OLD AGE PENSIONS.

Dr. Wallis gave a lecture last evening in Pitt-street schoolroom on" Old Age Pensions." There was a small attendance and the Chair was occupied Ijy Win Leys. The lecturer said the-scheme, proposed by the present Government was morally wrong and- only a bid for popularity. It would tend to make the people less thrifty. He thought a scheme fourided on an honest basis was both desirable and practicable. At the cTose questions were asked by some present who did not agree with the lecturer's remarks, and the meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
