UPPER THAMES MINING
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent)
PAEROA, this day.
The Rising Sun mine at Owharoa has had its low level completed for a distance of 450 ft, but as yet the reef has not been met. The country for the last few feet has been hard, but of good character for lode bearing. Tenders have now been called for driving another 50ft, before completion of which the reef should certainly be encountered.
At the Wailii South mine the drive from the bottom of the shaft is now in about 270 feet, and a change of country is evidently coming in, being similar to that met with in the upper level at a distance of four chains and 23 feet from the shaft, and which contained quartz stringers. At the greater depth of the present drive there is every prospect of a solid lode being met with before many more feet are driven.
