SUCCESS OF AN AUCKLAND
YACHT.

The 22-mile yacht race was won by Palmer's new Auckland yacht Te Uir'a beating Lord Brassey's Ellen by 15 minutes. The owners sailed their respective crafts. [The yacht TeUira is an Auckland built boat, having been built here at the heginning of last season by C. and W. Bailey. She is owned by Mr Palmer, of Melbourne, who is an enthusiastic yachtsman. The Uira ("Lightning") met Lord Brassey's yacht in Victorian waters last season, but was beaten on that occasion. She is a boat of about 5 rating. ]
Champman, the Dunedin sculler, easily defeated Browne, a local sculler, who was the only other entrant for the sculling championship of Victoria. The Mercantile Club won the four-oared championship.
