I INVERCARGILL, this day. At the Police Court John Gorman, a ut,pr at Hedgehope, was committed for Sit sending a letter to Margaret MacPhffson, teacher in a neighbouring school, Threatening her and others with bodily Ztta Gbrman had some years ago paid II addresses to the lady, but she Ti not favour him, although she JL not unfriendly to him afterwards, lately however, he heard she was to get married, and wrote asking if it were true, cle replied in the affirmative, and on the hack of one of her letters he -wrote the words she complained of, a threat that he luld take revenge. Complainant..and her brother gave accused a good character. GornU-i-, when arrested, said that he did hot think anything threatening, but on Ling shown Writing said it Was his and that he had been drinking. .
