MONO WAI,
Ifc has been decided to send one ton of ore from the Monowai to Dunedin to see if it can be successfully treated by the permaganate process. NEW ALBURNIA. , Cleaning up took place at the New Alburnia Company's battery after a crushing of 200 tons. The yield of bullion was 960z, which should be worth about £254. NONPARIEL RETURN. A crushing of 45 loads of quartz from the Liverpool reef yielded a return of 550z lOdwts of retorted gold worth £153 3s 2d. SHERIDAN. A meeting of shareholders in this Tapu mine was held on the 4th of November at Napier. The mine manager, Mr Rich, stated that in one section of the property there are numerous small auriferous veins which would pay to crush. An average of five out of eight pannings showed payable gold. At No. 2 level there were indications of free gold. During September 45 men were at work on the mine. He was fully satislied with the future prospects of the mine. In a letter to the Auckland representatives the directors say, " Rich's visit satisfactory. It is expected that present crushing, although more of a battery trial than a test of the mine, will pay ail November expenses, and that the mine will henceforth be self-supporting." VICTORIA CRUSHING. A crushing of 45 loads of general dirt from this mine has returned 34ozs lSdwts retorted gold; which was reduced on melting to 33ozs 12dwts valued at about £96. Included in the crushing were eiglifc loads from the surface leader, which yielded ISozs gold. * waiotah'i return. The manager cleaned up on November 4 for a return of 1430z of gold worth about £357, the product of 120 tons of ore.
