GLENROCK.

The Glenrock Company, Macetown .obtained 4340z smelted gold from 370 tons stone for the month of October.

PERMANGATE GOLD RECOVERY

PROCESS,

By invitation of the Minister of Mines several members of Parliament witnessed an exhibition of permangate gold recovery process by Professor Black, of tlie University of Otago, at the Wellington Museum. There were present : The Hon. Cadrnan, Messrs Herries, Lang, McGowan, Massey, Larnacli, Duncan, R. McKenzie, Mills, and others. Ore was operated on from Mount Morgan, the result being that extraction up to ten ounces of gold would be three to five shillings, the extra cost being in calcining. The process was originally a French discovery by Etard, of Paris. It is a vast improvement on older methods of chlorination, did'erinx from them and from the cyanide process in requiring no special training or technical knowledge in application to suitable ores. One great point brought out was that the lead saved would pay for the whole process. The result was most satisfactory.
