PROPOSALS FOR A CONFERENCE.
LONDON, October 27,
The "Standard" states that the Employers' Federation agree to the holding of a conference as suggested by the Board of Trade if the engineer's demand for 48 hours is unconditionally withdrawn and if the hours' question is not discitased. On the other hand, the Trades Union representatives demand that an far as the London unions are concerned ei^lit hours shall be discussed, and the miestion of shorter hours as ivfleeting -the unions generally must also be considered.
