Sydney, September 2.

Most of the federal delegates oppose Sir George Turner's motion for adjournment. Sir Samuel Griffith has written urging an adjournment to permit Queensland fcb join. jj. •

The second^session of the Federal Convention opened at noon. Sir George Turner a»d two other Victorian delegates will nob arrive till to - morrow. The President reported having presented the address from the Adelaide Convention to the Queen at Windsor on his recenb visit to England. The Queen, in reply, thanked the Convention for. their congratulations, and wished success to the faderal movement. The senior member of each delegation laid on the table the amendments made in the Commonwealth Bill by their respective legi-laturee. After several eomi&ittees had bean formally appointed, tha Convention adjourned till noon to-morrow. 'Next week they will meat at ten in the morning daily, Saturday and Sunday excopted.

With regard to adjourning the Federal Convention on the off chance of Queensland coming in, Mr Barton thinks that conlinually adjourning with such a hope, which was always falsified by syenfcs, would fritter away years of doing nothing, and would also frustrate efforts ak federating by four or five willing colonies because of the dalliance of one.
