ST. PATRICK'S CHRISTMAS TREE.
The annual Christmas tree and salo of work in connect/ion with St. Patrick's Church wa3 opened yesterday ab the Catholic Institute, Wolliagton-streeb. Tbo intorior of the building was neably decoratod with flags, nikau-palm leaves and ferns, and the largo number of stalls ran«ed along the Hides were filled with fancy work, toys, etc., arad showed that the ladies who had promoted tho saio had worked hard to make it a success. Mra Leonardo, treasurer, was in chnrgo of tho whole. Oh the doors being openud at 7.30 Rii Lordship Bishop Lenihan made a abort address, thanking the ladies of the Guild and others who had given the various" articles for sale, and also all who wore assisting. During the evening a number of excellent court dances wers contributed by some of Miss Carrie Knight's pupils, who went through their various evolutions with credic. There were also eeveral other attractions, notably a Punch and Judy show, which appeared to be very largely patronised. During the ovoning excellent business was done, there being a crowded attendance, aad the young people present heartily enjoyed themselves. Those in charge of the stalls were : Art union stall, Misses Regan and Gough ; adults' sale stall, Mi»se« Corley, McDeruiott and Collins ; refreshments, Mra iUrkins and Miss Graham; girls' stall. Misses Grace and Tuohey ; boys' stall, Misses Knight (2). The sale will be open again this evening, when tha art union in connection with the affair will be drawn.
