Leger took place at Doncaster to-day with the following result :— The St. Leger Stakes of 25sovs each for three year olds; colts, 9st; fillies, Ssb 111b; tbe owner of the second horse to receive SQOsova and tha third lOOsovs out of the stakes. Old St. Leger course (about one mile six furlong 3 and 132 yds.) [When Mr L. de Rothschild's colt St. Frusquin, the Two Thousand Guineas and Eclipee Stakes winner, went amiss a few week 3 ago and was scratched for the St. L9£er, the event was* looked upon as almost a foregone conclusion for the Epsom Derby •winner Persimsnot), owned by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. So the resalt has proved. The win would, no doubt, produce a scene of great enthusiasm oc the Toon Moor, where excitement always rona high when the race fqr the Blue Riband Ta annaally decided, "Persimmon was bred at the royal estate at Santtrmgham by his owner. He was &ot by the celebrated sire, St. Simon, from Perdita IL, who in tarn wa3 got by Hampton from Hermione, by Youne Melbourne from La Eeile Helene, by St. Albans.]
