The University Senato resumed this ingOn the motion of Bi?hop Cowio, ifc was resolved that the Rev. C. M. Nelson bo appointed Senate member of the Board of Governors of the Auckland College and Grammar School.
Professor Brown moved : " That Section 1 of tha statute dealing with tho 1851 Science scholarship be amended co as to read :—Candidates for any science scholarship ottered by Hor Mojoaty'a commissioners' exhibition of 1851 to members of the Now Zealand University must bo graduates of tha University, and must take first or second claxs bonouru in chemistry, physical science, or mathematics, and mathematical physics, beforo nomination." Bishop Cowio moved as an amonrtment 11 That tho question be referred to the Select Committee to report." Tho amendment was carried. The report of the Committee of the whole on tho Chancellor's address was then considered. The Committee recommended that the statute " Sonior Scholarship:)1' bo amended by substituting for tha words, "English and either French or German" the words " two of the following languages, English, French, Gorman." This waa agreed to. The proposals of the Professor of Modern Language in the Canterbury College regarding the B.A. and S.Sc. degree examinations, and of the Professors of Biology in affiliated institutions regarding the Bachelor Science pass examination. Referred to a select Commf.ttee. Several other select committees wore also set up.
The Senate then adjonrnod till to-morrow morning.
