Wkllington, this day. Mr J. M. Richardson has wibhdrawn from the mayoral contest, leaving the present Mayor (Mr Luke) and Mr Fisher to fight ib out. Mr H. Kember, the well-known Wellington accountant, has beon appointed nonofficial member of tho Board of Advice under tho Advances to Settlers Act. Tha Newtown School Committee is in , bad odour wibh householders owing to bhe headmaster (Mr Hulke) having resigned on account of his treatment by the Committee. A mooting called on the Comnaibbee to resign, which they decline to do, although tbe Chairman, who took Mr Hulko's side, has resigned. Tho quarrel haa beon discussed by the School Commibtees' Associabion, who passed a resolution approving of the stand taken by the Committee. Regulations under the Pastoral Tenants' Relief Acb are issued. Applications aro to be made through Land Boards by November 21st, and those considered deserving will be senb to the head office. Gisborne, this day. The Harbour Board agreed to lease their property to the proposed Co-operative Freezing Works Company.
