Powers of Prophesy.
Tbe following is an absbracb from the memoirs of the Margravine of Anspach, published in 1826 :
• After I bad been, married to Lord Craven, and we were living together on terms of the greatest cordiality, I hap. pened to meeb with two young ladies who had determined to go to a celebrated woman who was famous for predicting future events, or rather, for telling fortunes. Upon our being admitted, after saying a few words to my young friends, she addressed herself to me, saying, 'I have not the pleasure of knowing who voa are, bub, from bhe very particular marks ia your countenance, I musb be allowsd bo draw your horoscope.' I smiled and consenbed, bub as she said she could nob complete ib directly, I was induced to give her my age and the day and hour of my birth, thab sha might write ib down and send ib to me in the course of a week. I returned home and bhoughb little more of it. In aboub ben days I received a lebter, which, on opening, I found to contain the Sibyl's prediction. She stated tbab I was to bavo a family of seven children, bhab I then waa to separate from my husband, who would die before me; bhab I should go abroad, and bhab I should marry again some royal personage, and come inbo possession of greab riches. I had at thab time no idea of a separation, nor could I form the thought of a connection with any obher nerson much leas one whose rank was so exalted ai bhab of Margrave.!
It is a fact recorded earlier in the memoirs, that Lady Craven had seven children ; did separate from her husband; did go to live abroad; and did many a royaj personage^-'Light.'
