The following are the details of bhe running for bhe Hawkeabury Handicap, in which bhe Auckland-owned Royal Roae ran bhird :—

Other starters: E.K., Ssb 101b; Ballaber, Ssb lllb, including 51b penalty ; Ebony, Ssb lib; Thespian, 7-b 101b; Lustre, 7sb 61b ; Quadrant, 7st 51b, including lib over ; Epinicion, 7st Alb, including 21b over; Escapade, 7ab2lb; Dalmeny, 6st 91b; Triton, 6at7lb ; Roundaboub, 6sb 71b ; Gil Bias, 6sb 121b, including 51b over. Betting: 7to 4v. Emm Pasha, 7 to 2v. Ballater, 6 to 1 v. E.K., 10 to . each v. Triton, Royal Rose, and Epinicion, 20 bo Iv. others. A good start senb Epinicion, Escapade, and Emm Pasha away in the van, attended by Thespian, Ballater, and E.K., with Magnus last. Emm Pasha showed the way past bhe stand and to the mile post, followed by Thespian, Dalmeny and Tribon. Ab bhe end of another furlong Thespian. Dalmeny, and Triton were clustered just in advance of Roundaboub, Royal Rose, Emm Pasha, and Escapade. As they sailed pasb bhefive-furlongposbßoundabout broke down badly, and losing his place interfered with Ballater. Tribon wenb inbo second place ab the half-mile posb. bub only for a few sbrides, as the favourite soon cub him down and book up his posibion ab bhe fronb, followed by Escapade, Ballater, Royal Rose, E.K., and Magnus. From thia out Emm Pasha was nob interfered with, and he won comforbably by tjvo lengths from Magnus, who came vory fasb ab the finish, and beab Royal Rose by half a lengbh for second place. Epinicion was fourth, followed by E.R., Ballaber, Tribon, Lustre, Thespian, and Gil Bias with Ebony and Dalmeny laab. Time, 2min 25_sec.
