THE COMMITTEE RESIGN.
A letter waa read at fche meeting of the Education Board fco-day from Mr Fiaher, Chairman of the Fairburn'a Road School Committee, forwarding the followingresolution : *' That in view of tho remarks of Hia Honor Judge Connolly ab tho trial of Wrigley v. Fisher on bhe dubiea and reaponsibilitiea of Committees under the Auckland Education Board, this Committee instruct their Chairman to give in fco the Board the resignation of the whole of the Committee withoub delay." The Board accepted tbe resignation. Mr Wilding said bbc Board was blamed for having gob Mr Fisher into trouble in tbe case. Mr Udy (Chairman) said no information waa given to anyone by the Board until the teacher had been removed from the school by the Committee. After that information waa given to both parties when applied for. Mr Muir considered the Board was to blame in the matter. He thought when a Committee asked for a change of teacher ib should bo granted without asking for reasons. Ib waa only when fchi3 Board drew oub tho Committee thab the difficulty commenced. Mr Lambo considered thab ie would bo more wise for tho Board to treat correspondence from Committees as private. Mr Woodward thought that it would be unfair for teachers to be moved unless there was sufficient [.round shown. Mr Wilding aaid it should be romembered that the verdicb waa not given upon the reporb senb to tho Board, bub because the jury waa of opinion thab animus was shewn in the mutter.
Mr Cooper said ib would never do to remove teachers at tne mere wish of the Committees. Tbe Chairman said in the case in question parties were evenly divided, and when a few new votes had been obtained then the upset followed. Mr Cooper said it would be intolerable it Committees w..re to be allowed to make slanderous statements against teachers, and the Board were not to let teachers i know what had been written about them. 1 Mr Luke', sympathy was entirely with ■ Miss Wri_rl'.y in the matter.
