PRESENTATION TO MR L.D. NATHAN.
Mr L, D. Nathan, who Is leaving for England with bis wife and family by the s.B. Tasmania tomorrow, for an extended tour fa Europe, waa entertained at the Northern Club on Saturday night. It is Mr Nathan's (Intention to leave Sydney for England by tbe s.i Arcadia.
A pleasant ceremony tookplaceab 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when a number of well-known members of the Hebrew congregation assembled at the residence of Mr L. v. Nathan, Karangahape Road, in order to present to him an address prior to his departure for Europe. Mr P. A. Philips, on behalf of the doputation.mado the presentation, and stated that it was eleven years since ie had the pleasure of presenting a similar address to the late Mr David Nathan, father of the present recipient. He trusted that Mr L. D. Nathan might live to see a like address presented to bis own eon. Mr H. Nathan (Treasurer of tbe Hebrew congregation) and the Rev, S. Goldstein also .■made a few remarks, after which Mr -Philips read the address, which was as follows;— Auckland, April 19bh, 1894. To I. D. Nathan, Esq., J.P. Dear sir,—Wo, She undersigned members of tha Auckland Hebrew community, desire to express to you, on the ove of your departure for Europe, our regret that the community are for a time (and we hope only for a time) losing your valuable services, so long, so ireely and so liberally rendered by you on behalf of the beet interests of this congregation, and we desire to thank you most aeartily and gratefully, and to assure you we gratefully appreciate the kindness and ■liberality exercisod by you and your family (Jo the best intorests of our ancient religion In this city. We heartily unite in wishing you, Mrs Nathan and family a safe and pleasant voyage to the Old Country, and a ■fervent hopo that God of Israel will continue to bless you aud yours with 'ihealth, happiness aud prosperity.
