; Wellington, this day. The triennial; valuation of the Government Insurance Department has been made this time locally ujpon the principles submitted to and approved by tho English actuaries. It has only tak&n four months to complete. The insurance Jfund, ab tho end of 1893, after adding £1)3.000 to fche fluctuation fund, amounted tip £2,128,590, and the neb liability to £1,938,\£90, leaving a surplus of £190,000. Of this |£140.000 will be divided in bonuses, and ££0.000 placed to reserve. The expense rate bias fallen during the last three years, and fche new business was greater during 18Gl3 than for some years, tho amount being )& little over £740,000. The neb increase of Inew business over discontinuances shows h marked advance upon 1892, the ratio of expenses of management shows a decrease oflone and a-half per cent. \
