PARNELL.
Cr. J. McCabe (Mayor) and Crs. Withy, Gilmour, Page, Whitley, Pollard, Briggs and Thornes attended the usual fortnightly meeting of the above Council last evening. Heat.th Report.—Dr. Girdler reported a car- : enteric fever in Park Road and Dr. L.i.daay a case ot typhoid fever in Alpha Road. Both cases were removed to the Hospital. Repairing Footpaths.—On the motion of Cr. Whitley it was resolved to do some repairs to the footpath from Selwyn Terrace to Manukau Road.
Endowments. — Cr. Withy moved : "That the Treasury Department be writteji to demanding the fulfilment of the condition under which the Punakateri endowment was taken over from the Council." —This was agreed to. Sinking Fund.—A statement of accounts was submitted by the Sinking Fund Commissioners, and it was pointed out that the credit at present was £974 4s, which would, moan an apparent deficiency of £260 2a in Augusb, when the sum should be £1,239. The Commissioners asked that the Council would take steps to pay that amount by August. They also pointed out that the rate struck of 9d in the £ was not sufficient. —Cr. Thornes movea "Thab bhe accounts be received and compared with the auditor's accounts."—This waß agreed to.—Mr Tftcarnes also.pointed out that the Sinking FunoVCommissioners had no minute book, and they wished to have a proper record of the expenditure of the waterworks and drainage loans. He moved " Thab the Town Clerk be asked to prepare the requisite information for the Commissioners.—This was likewise agreed to. —It was further resolved thab Crs. McCabe, Thornes and Withy, be appointed Sinking Fund Commissioners.
Works.—The Foreman of Works reported that he had done an amounb of tarring and sanding during the past fortnighb He also reported upon obher small works done in the borough. Refuse.—Cr. Pollard drew attention to the necessity that existed for the Council to secure some place on which to deposit the refuse from the streets.—The matter was referred to the Streets Committee to report. Arrears op Rates.—On the motion of Cr. Thornes it was resolved to ask Messrs Hesketh tnd Richmond to report as to what had been done with regard to the collection of the £190 arrears of rates.
