! Athens, April 30. As reports come in from tha districts affected by the earthquake, its ravages are shown to be much more extensive than was supposed.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been rendered homeless, and the whole coast line from opposite Larissa to Thermopylae has been laid desolate.
The eiaa encroached upon the land, and elsewhere torrents of boiling waterupheaved from the fissures in the earth added to the horrors of the scene.
The unfortunate inhabitants in the stricken districts are spending their nights in the opeu air praying for mercy. The shocks still continue.
Extensive fissures have been riven in the ground, and the mountain gorges have been greatly affected.
