BANKING LEGISLATION.
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL UNDER DISCUSSION. Sydney, this day. Sir George Dibbs, in moving bhe second reading of the Bunk Bill, said if ib became law it would go a long way toward placing the banking institutions in this^colony on something like the footing of the Bank of England. This legislation was required, nob"i:i bhe inberests of bhe banks, bub in the interests ot the trading community. Mr MacMillan desired to limit the Bill to twelve months, bub Sir Geo. Dibb* dissented from this, though he was willing to maku tbe term two years. Mr MacMillan remarked thab the nexb eighteen months would be a period o. bitter recovery for the country. Tho second reading of the Bill was carried by 65 to 34. V
