(Continued frontpage 2,) MR NAPIER AT ST. SEPULCHRE'S. Mr Napier bad a crowded meebing ab Sb. Sepulchre's yesberday evening. Ab bhe outset, of his speech he referred to the accusation of the "New Zealand Herald" that he bad made a compact with the Roman Catholics thab he would help them to secure a vote in aid of their schools. The allegation was completely false, and was the fabrication of a drunken elecbioneering agenb and a difjcharged Civil servant. He was prepared to give £250 to Auckland charities if tbe " Herald " could substantiate the charge ib had made. Mr Hall, one of chose present, demanded more specific assurances from Mr Napier thab he had no in ten tion of interfering with the present system of educ.-tion. He persisted in regarding Mr Napier's statements as satisfactory, and waa the cause of some disturbance, many of Mr Napier's friends in bhe meebing considering bhab be, Mr Napier, had promised all thab was required of him. Ab the closo of the meeting a vote of thanks was propo?ed and seconded. On a show of hands in the affirmative oniy the Chairman declared tbe motion carried.
