THE PEERLESS IN BAD WEATHER.
The smart Sydney - owned brigantine Pcerlee** arrived at Sydney on the 12th from Kaipara with a cargo of kauri She left thore on the 24tb Soptember, and some bad weather from N.E. set in soon after leaving, increasing to fierce squalls. There was a tearful sea running, and though the Peerloss is recognised as one of tbe best bad-woatber vessels of hor aize on the coast, she bad a terrible time of it. Oil bags from tbe cathead were hung out, and by thab means the sea was to some extent prevented from breaking and washing off the deck cargo. During a sudden change to west tbe foresail, lowertopsail, mainstaysail, jib, and some other canvas went. Right from tbe New Zealand coast to Sydney Heads really fine weather prevailed, only on two days.
