BAND OF HOPE MEETINGS.
The usual monthly meeting of the Church of Christ Band of Hope was held in the Foresters' Hall on Friday. The hall was filled to the doors, the programme on this occasion being rendered by the lady members of the Band of Hope. Mrs Collings occupied the chair, and discharged the duties pertaining to that office very creditably. The following is the programme, which was gone through in a most praiseworthy manner :—Address, Mrs Collings ; pianoforte' solo, Miss L. Collings; song. Miss Vinnicomb ; recitation, "Becalmed, Miss A. Allsop (encored); song, "Have You Counted the Cost?" Miss King; temperance address, Miss Falkner ; recitation, "Over the Hills," Miss B. Aldridge ; song, "The Children or the Drink," Mrs Collings ; recitation, Miss R. Jarvis; recitation, "The Man in the Moon," Miss ;King, encored (only sixteen) ; song, "Some Day," Miss Fanny Pickard (encored); pianoforte solo, Miss F. Collings; song, "The Children's Home," Mrs Coiling^ . . . The monthly public meeting of tho Ponsonby Baptist Band of Hope was held in the school-room last Friday, when a very interesting programme was gone through. Rev J. D. Gilmore occupied the chair. The' Misses Wright played very nicely a pianoforte duet, and the other items'contributed were a vocal solo by Miss. Fanny Fears; recitation, Master A. Graham; a round' by membersof Band of Hope choir ; recitation, Miss Nellie Clough ; violin solo, Master, J. -^Peterson } -< jn 9 frrum<jßtal...ta-fy Messrs Shepherd, Tattenjall/and Sutler; reading. Mr J. S. Bigelow; solo.(rendered very effectively), Miss Lottie Wright; address, Mr Dimmock; solo, Miss A. F.T. Robinson ; dialogue, members of Band ot H ( pe Hoyles' melodies were sung by the choir'during the evening, and a profitable babpy evenine was brought to a close by thl pastor pronouncing the benediction. Abthe Tabernacle Band of Hope lastFridaVevening a very good programme was supnlfed to a very appreciative audience. Sobgs were given by Miss Oxley, Mr G. H. Crjcombe, Masters Charlie Garrett and Hd-enzo Honeycomb; recitations by Miss Wieeler, Masters Bertie Daniels and Charlie Garrett ; vocal duet, Messrs Cricombe and H. Thomas; pianoforte sobs Miss Ellinghain, Miss Stewart and Mfcs Court; reading, Mr Wm. P. Baker. THe Rev. Mr Combes presided, and Mr Macdofmott gave the Union address. -
