SCHOOL STATIONERY.
The Board of Educabion had under consideration this afternoon the following report by the Executive Committee upon letters received from the other Education Boards of the colony, regarding arrangements for tho supply ot school stationery for the use of scholars :—" The Executive Committee recommended, (1) Thab the resolutions of bhe Board dabed July, IS9I, bo rescinded ; (2) thab from and after tho Ist July, 1892, the stationery to be supplied for tho use of scholars be limited to tbo following articles: Ink, pens, penholders, slates, slate-pencils, pencil-holders, lead pencils, erasers, chalk, foolscap paper, and blotting paper. (3) Thab bhese articles be procured and supplied by bhe School Commibbee of the district in such manner as they may direct, and in quantities sufficient to meet the requirements of each school. (4) Thab the cost- bo defrayed by the, Committeo from the school fund, and thab the scale of grants bo school funds be increased by a proportional amount accordingly." 'the resolubion of the Board proposed to be repealed by the firsb clause in the above recommendation authorised bhe supply of tiio following school requisites by the Board free of charge :—Black ink (or powders), pens and pen-holders, lead pencils, erasers, slate pencils, pencil-holders, ruled foolsc-u. paper, blotting paper, exercise books, compasses, foot rulers, set squares, and chalk for blackboards.
