MANAWATU RAILWAY.
ASSESSED FOR LOCAL RATES.

Wellington, this day. v The Manawatu Railway Company objected in the Review Court to the valuation of £59,310 for the portion of the line in Horokiwi Riding. Mr Crombie admitted that the railway was exempt from land bax as a public railway, bub it appeared thab the line was assessable for bhe purposes of local baxation, and bhe Board upheld the valuation, which is at the rate of £3,000 per mile. '
