He adversely criticised the taxation policy of bhe Minisbry, and, pointing oub th* instances of its unfairness, strongly condemned the withholding of a freehold title, conbending-thab the sebblemont policy mvtsii prove a failure unless settlers were enabled to borrow on the securiby of theirproperties. He was frequently applauded during bis speech. Ab bhe conclusion Mr Pirani, the defeated candidate at'lasfc elec tion, moved a vobe of thanks in Mr Wilson,and of confidence in tho presenb Ministry. This waß losb by a majoriby of 3bo 1. An amendment of bhanks and confidence in Me. Wilson was carried amid hearby and pro* longed applause.
