Merino wool.—The pales opened nt an average decline of about 5 per cent, on laet galea closing rates. Crossbred.—The eales opened this day, prices ruling in buyers' favour. Attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition fairly active. The total quantity availablo, including wool held over from last series, is 440,000 bales, of which 84,000 bales have been forwarded to manufacturing districts direct. Wheab market.—There is no demand. stocks heavy and market receding. New Zealand. —F.a.q. is worth c.i.f. to arrive, 37s per 4801b nominal value : longberried and average ie worth 40s to 38s 6d per 4961b respectively.
