The influence of the Catholics secured the rejection, by a large majority, of the proposal which was before the Reichstag to grant two million marks with which to build a corvette.
Prince Bismarck assures his visitors that the Emperor is offending all parties and making peace with none, and that they may yet see a repetition of 1848, and the Emperor compelled to flee from the rioters.
