THE LATE MR FARNALL.
Some friends of tho late Mr H. W. Farnall are taking steps to raise a subscription for his family—a wife and six children—left quite unprovided for by his sudden death. Sir George Grey made a feeling allusion to Mr Farnall's death the other evening, sayinir that the exortions of tho husband aud father in tho interest of the working j classes ought to be remembered and ac- j knowledged in a practical way by rendering material assistance to the bereaved j wife and children. A correspondent writes | in connection with these observations suggesting that when Sir George Grey returns from Wellington after thesession heshould be requested to give a lecture upon New Zealand affairs, a charge for admission being made and the proceeds dovoted to the beuefit ol Mr Farnall's family. This course, however, if otherwise practicable, would involve considerable delay, and in all cases like the present to give quickly is to give twice. Something of the kind suggested may be arranged for later on, but in the meantime all these inclined to act on the hint given by Sir George Grey can do so by forwarding their subscriptions to this olhco, where a subscription list now lies for signature.
