DEATH OF MR W. H. CONNELL.
Mb William Henry 'Coxxell, barrister and solicitor, of this city, died somewhat suddenly at his residence at noon to-day. Ho had been suffering from a complication of ailments for some time past, being unable to attend to business, and was under the medical care of Dr. Lewis. It is supposed thafc it was a stroke of heart disease which carried him off. Mr Connell was an old Auckland boy,having been born in Auckland and spent nearly all his life here. Ho was a comparatively young man, and his fiiends aro surprised at his sudden end. He was nofc much over forty years of age. He w&~ theson of Mr W. Connell, an old Auckland resident, partner in the firm of Connell and Ridings, one of the earliest auctioneering firms in this city. He was brought up for the law, and was in business as barrister and solicitor in Auckland for many years. From 1879 to about 1886 he was in partnership with Mr E. Cooper, in Vulcan Lane, and subsequently had an office of his own in High-streak. He was unmarried, and was a brother-in-law of "the lato Mr G. P. Pierce.
