SEVERAL ARRESTS MADE.

Hamilton, this day. Inspector Emerson has returned to Hamilton from Okoroire with the Maoris who are accused of obstructing the ploughing on the Thames Valley Land Company estate. He arrived on the disputed ground about 9 a.m. on Saturday and met a number of Maoris, who, seeingthestrongforce of police, did not resist, and allowed the police to arrest Mibinui and his wife, who are now lodged in gaol at Hamilton. Ihe natives were much astonished ab the prompt measures taken for their arrest, thinking they would not be interfered with. Inspector Emerson made short work of tho affair, leaving Hamilton at 3 p.m. on Friday and returning at 7 p.m. on Saturday with his prisoners, having travelled continuously from four o'clock on Saturday morning until 7.30 p.m. No further ob. struction to the work is expected. BEFORE THE COURT, Mihinui and his wife were brouphb up at the Court to-day, and acknowledged destroying the bridges, but claimed the land. The case was remanded to Friday for the
