ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON.

Wellington, this day. Arrived : The s.s. Coptic, from Plymouth via Hobart. Sinco her last visit here the Coptic has undergone an entire change in her 1.3t of officers. Captain E. J. Smith, R.N., (late Commander of R.M.S. Celtic, engaged in the Atlantic trade), takes Captain Barton's place, and under him are Mr S. Lindsay (late of the Celtic), first officer; Mr A. E. Acheson (late of the Celtic), second ; Mr R. Clark (late of the lonic), third; Mr H. Burbridge (late of the lonic), fourth ; purser, Mr R. Cameron, formerly of the Celtic, and Dr. J. L. Kitching, recently in the Pacific trade. She has 67 passengers for transshipment from Wellington. Passengers for Napier : —Third saloon : Mr J. Armiger, Misses Armiger (3), Mr J. J. Redpath. Passengers for Auckland :—First saloon : Miss Bull, Mr W. E. D. Digsby, Miss K. Johnston. Second saloon : Samuel Hardy, Mrs S. Hardy, Miss E. Hardy, Master W. Hardy, Mr W. Richard. Third saloon: Mr J. Baker, Mrs Bell - Chambers, Mr C. Brock, N. Christian, R. Greacen, Miss Lane, Mr E. J. Pettman, Mrs Pettman, Masters Pettman (2), Misses Pettman (2), Mr F. Spriggs, Mrs Eliza.Spriggs, Miss Lizzie Donald. For Gisborne: First saloon, Mr Alf Dewing. The direct steamer Coptic, from London, was berthed at 10.30 a.m. to-day. She left London on ; 12th December, Plymouth on the 14th, Teneriff'e on the 20th, Capetown January 6th, Hobart 26th. Heavy weather was experienced in the channel, but the rest of the passage was a particularly smooth one. The mail consists of 253 bags and 32 boxes of parcel post.' Shortly after leaving Teneriffe a steerage steward named Charles Lenham succumbed to a fit of epilepsy.
