THE MAORIS AND THE JUBILEE
MAJOR KEMP'S ADDRESS,
Major Kepa (Kemp) te Rangihiwinui, the well-known Wanganui native chief, has sent a letter to the Hon. E. Mitchelson, Native Minister, for presentation to the Governor, Lord Onslow, and the Auckland Jubilee Committee, wishing His Excellency to cable the following message to Her Majesty the Queen :—" In my opinion this is a fitting time to confirm the unity of England and New Zealand under bhe mana and favour of Queen Victoria, and har rule for ever and ever." -
His Excellency has replied to Major Kemp:—"l have received through my Minister for Native Affairs your communication to Her Majesty the Queen, expressing your desire thab bhe union of New Zealand to Britain, as at present existing, should be confirmed for ever and ever. I have at your desire conveyed that message to Her Majesty, and have also, as you request, directed that your statement be made known to the Jubilee Committee at Auckland."
