The Baby Show was largely attended last night. The public are evidenbly much interested in the selection of bhe champion baby as the ballot is proceeding merrily. The little ones were fairly quiet d uring the evening and were with the utmost solicitude by the visitors. The show again opened at three o'clock thia afternoon, when another large audience |,gathered to see young Auckland on exhibition. The awards will be declared/ on Monday. The Rev. .W. Birch, the new Baptist ; pastor for the Auckland Tabernacle, arrived yesterday from Wellington by the s.s., Wanaka with t hia wife and daughter. "He. commences hjs duties at once, having been formally inu ed into Mb new charge last night, The b.B. Gairloch a.*wed ab the Manu» ka'u from Waitara at noon to-day with 60 head of cattle, 26 sacks potatoes, 60 sacks iron, 32 sacks maize, end the following passengers:—Mrs Thompson, and family (5), Messrs Thompson Wallace, Taylor, Turley, and Mies Anderson,
