Thames, this day. fcALEßONiAN.—Thosmine manager reports:. The drive at the intermediate level has been extended*B feet during the past week. The reef here is 20 inches in thiokness, and of the usual description. In tho leading second and third stopes a few colours of gold have been seen in breaking down the quartz, but the reef is smaller, going up only ten inches in the back of the third stope. I will push the drive ahead, and have commenced an underhand stope from the floor of this. I have also started two men to break quartz at No. 2 level. Newbery - Vaughn Co. —The new machinery for treatment of argentiforoue ores for the Newbery-Vautin Co. has arrived from England. It Jiaa been decided to erect it ab "Waihi insteadlof the Thames as originally proposed. Dr. Schudel will superintend its erection andUtwill be immediately proceeded with. New Moanataiabj.—The Reuben Parr reef has been cut into for 4ft, but there is no sign of the opposite wall yet. Lone Hand. —The reef in the low level has been broken down, but no gold was seen. The quartz, however, carries nice mineral. Crushing has been commenced. Saxon. —As the result of the past fortnight's work there are only 4500z of amalgam. Cleaning up and retorting will not take place until the end of the week. The manager has removed a number of men from the stopes over No. 2 level, owing, to a falling-off of a reef, and has put them to work at No. 5 level.

Cambbia.—The No. 7 leader is about five inches in thickness and shows a little gold at each breaking down. The leader westtorard of the winze averages about five finches in thickness, and at last breaking atown a few pounds of picked stone were saved. The leader on No. 3 level is one foot in thickness and carries nice mineral.

Lone Hand. —There are in the hoppers 11 loads quartz broken out from the reef in the General Chute drive. The crosscut in the Lone Hand section is going through a good class of cou-ntry for gold, with a small leader in tho face, in which dabs and colours of gold are seen. When breaking down the third etopa leader 61b picked stone came to hand during the week. Colours of gold and good mineral have been seen in the other leaders. Preecott and party, tributers, crushed two loads for eight pounds picked stone, for the return Bdwt melted gold. New Albuenia.—lrwin arid party, fcributers, have crushed 12 loads quartz for 220z 15dwt.

Saxos - .—Fair indications are reported from the various reefs. The mine manager has on hand 45302 amalgam, and 301b picked stone, New Manukau,—Mulligan's leader in the stopes is looking fairly well, and a little gold is seen when breaking down, I started a trial crushing from the new block yesterday, and it is shaping for a payable return, Will clean tip next week, for I expect to get a little more pioked atone before then to baok it up,
