The "Telegraph" commenting onMrSmart'3 letter to the " Southland News " relative to the'property tax paid by the Scottish and New Zealand Investment Society, points out that the Society has nearly half a million sterling invested in this colony, and yets the "Secretary states that this investment only yielded a net? profit of £5,455. "It is no part of our business to criticise management that can produce 6uoh n poor roeulb, bub wo do not think the English shareholders have reason bo complain at paying £2,176 property tax on nearly half a million invested in this colony."
