ART EXHIBITION.
Workmen are now engaged getting the Choral Hall ready to hang the pictures for the forthcoming Exhibition in connection with the Auckland Society of Arts. Efforts are being made to make the exhibition a greater success than its predecessors. One great attraction this year should be the exhibition of the McKclvie collection of 40 pictures by first-class artists. A number of paintings have already been forwarded by local artists. Mr Gibbs has sent several, one of which is a good view of Wellington Harbour. Tho bost piece is however Milforcl Sound. Mr Charles iiiomfield has forwarded not less than 10 paintings. Some represent scenes at Wairakei and other parts of the Hot Lake district. Probably the picture of Mr Blomfield's which will attract the moat attention will bo his representation of the Waitakerei Cascades. Pictures have also been forwarded by Messrs Drummond, Ball, Aldis and others. There are yefc numbers of artists unrepresented, but their exhibits will probably arrive later on, as the Exhibition does not open until Thursday evening, when the usual members' conversazione will be held, and the public will be admitted the next day. Arrangements have been made for a first-class string band to attend each evening the exhibition is open and render selections of the latest music.
