VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY V. AUCKLAND CITY GUARDS.

This match, which has been looked forward to by the teams for some weeks, took place on Saturday at the rifle range. The day was not altogether favourable for shooting, there being a strong wind blowing, which made tbe shooting nob very brilliant. The Hamilton team arrived on Friday and took up their quarters ab the Waitemata Hotel. The teams were driven in drags to the range, .and the firing comenccd ab 2 o'clock. The ranges were 2CO, 300, and 500 yards, 5 shots ab each range. As will be seen by the scores appended, bhe Hamilton team won by 55 points. Captain Kohn was in charge of the Guards, and at tho conclusion of the match called for three cheer's lor the Hamilton team. This was heartily responded to by Che winning team at the call of Captain Reid, and wishes on both sides were expressed thab annual matches should bo died between bhe two teams. Captain Kohn intimated to Cn£>tuin Reid that before the shooting season is over, ho would challenge the Hamilton team bo iire bhe return match ab Hamilton. The bwo teams returned to town, where tea was provided for at the Waitemata Hotel. The following are the scores : —
