Auckland Tattersall's Club inaugural race meeting is being held on the North Shore racecourse this afternoon. As usual, the races were delayed in starting, and it was 20 minutes to 2 before the flag fell for the "first event. There is only a fair attendance. Mr D. Halstead is wielding the starter's flag, and the jockeys are weaving bands of crape on their arms as a mark of respect to Major Walmsley. The Artillery Band under Mr Hunter is located in its usual place on the lawn. Handicap Maiden Plate of 25sovs. One mile. Satyr, 7st 121b (Wright) 1 Reproach, Bst 51b (Bell) 2 Toatoa, 7st.7ib (O'Moara) 3 Muskerina (7st 121b) and Lady Lonsdale (7st) also started. Satyr and Lady Lonsdale made the running for the first half-mile, when Satyr came away ar.d won by a clear leno-th. Time, lmin 50sec. Dividend, £3 2s. H'judle Race. Artist (Hadfield) 1 Orangeman (liae) ... ... ... ... 2 Landseer (Williams) was the only other starter.
