IMMIGRATION SCHEME.
ENGLISH PARLIAMENTARY SCHEME INAPPLICABLE TO NEW. ZEALAND.
(BY TELEGKAI'H.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Wellington, this day. The immigration scheme formulated by a Parliamentary Committee in England, and regarding the prospects of which Mr Dixon, M.P., is now inquiring in Wellington, is found to be inapplicable to New Zealand. The local demand for such land as would be required is already so great that the colony would have no interest in offering to immigrants suca inducements in the way of land grants as the Committee propones. If this scheme is to be carried out at all, it would have to be under our special settlement conditions. Mr Dixon will report to this effect on nis return to England.
