BANKRUPTCY.

A.D. Bennett.-—A meeting of the creditors in the estate of •A. D.,Bennett was held at the Official Assignee's offico this morning, there being present the debtor and hi a solicitor. Creditors: Messrs O'Meagher, j Bromfield, Cozens, Wilson (Wilson, Wil- i Hams, apd McCullagh), Bennett, Raynes, Hall, Biggs, Humphreys, McCormich (as proxy for; Mr Dufaiir), G. Lewis, Barber (for the New Zealand Woollen Company), and N. Thome. Mr Cozens was voted to the chair. Mr Grey read the sworn statement of the debtor (which has already appeared in our columns) together with other statements. Mr Barber made a lengthy statement as to the position with the Woollen Company, and declared that £500 had never been voted by the directors to the bankrupt. An offer of a certain jimounb had been jMade to the pro{ moters yrhich offer haid nevef accepted. ThOre was liinrentry,'of £500 in the books, but it was made by _ the bank^ rupt and there "was nothing to support it. Mr O'Meaghor proposed, and Mr Wilson seconded,: andl it was carriecl unanimbuslyi Mr Barber refraining from voting, *• That it be left to the discretion of the Assignee as to whether or not action be taken against the Woollen Company." Mr Wilson proposedi ; seconded by Mr Biggs, and carried unanimously, Mr Barber not voting in this or ithe next motidn, "That thia meeting being satisfied that Mr Bennett ivaa perfectly solvent until the Woollen Company's judgment of this month, the As&itfnee be inetructed to facilitate his discharge. "••-#, Mr Wilson also proposed and MvSiggß seconded, and the motion carried unanimously: "That> we, being satiufied that the sale of the cutter Czar was made legitimately and. for the good of theeetate, the Assignee be requested not to interfere with Mrs Bennett's purchase and sale, or the balance of furniture at Mr Bennett's disposition.'' .
