The Tent Services on Surrey Hills.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l have been requested to explain through the columns of your paper the movement now on foot to build a church edifice in the vicinity of Surrey Hills. Just (ifteon weeks ago last night I gave my first discourse In the-tent at Surrey Hills. During this time about one hundred and seventeen discourses have been delivered. Tho attendance has exceeded all expectation. Last Sunday, after stating it would soon be necessary to remove from the tent to some hall, a number of citizens immediately proposed that we build a church. Accordingly an 'appointment was made to meet on Tuesday evening Insb,' 12th iiiffc., and consider the matter. The mooting was held, and resulted in the appointment of a finance committee of five, with a secretary and treasurer, also a committee of fivo to select a suitable place for the building, and recommend tho same to the house. All present were greatly interested and subscribed before they left the meeting the handsome sum of Cll6 11s. Yesterday voluntary contributions were handed in to the amount of £9, making in all over £125, part of which has already been paid. In this communication I wish to state that wo have authorised a number of persons to solicit subscriptions for this work. Each person whom we have appointed is furni.shod with a small pass book containing the subscription list, also my signature, and tho following stamp;—"lnternational Tract and Missionary Society." Donors may use their own discretion as to making money payments until the building is enclosed, but we shall be pleased to receive any cash through the medium of our authorised collectors or at the tent. It is scarcely necessary to add that we shall greatly appreciate any help that may bo afforded us.—A. G. Daniells.
