Loniion, Soptomber 4.—ln tho House of Commons yesterday Mr Parnell withdrow his amendment opposing tho motion to grant precedence to supply on tho ground that tho state of affairs in Ireland demanded primary attention. Lord Randolph Churchill intimated that a date would bo lixod for the discussion of a bill to bo introduced by Mr Patnell to amend tbo proaont Irish land laws.
The Now Hebrides.
Lonuok, Septomber 14.-Tbo "Journal dos Dobats " urges the French Government to arrango moro friendly relations respecting the Now Hebridos. Mr E. Stanhope has hopos of an oarly evacuation of |thoso islands.

September 16.—1n roply to a communication from tho Governor of Victoria, asking whether a vespol is available for despatch to tho New llobridoa for tho purpopo of protecting the British in terests in (hoeo islands, Admiral Tryon has a'atod that two mon-o'-war aro already at the Now Hebrides, and that ho believes the stato of all'airs there has boon exaggerated.

London, Soptember 14.—1n tho House of Commons today, Mr Edward Stanhope, Secretary of Stato ior tho Colonies, Rtatod, in roply to a question, that tho proposed cablo from Vancouver Island to Australia would bo attended with heavy expondituro. Hor Majesty's Government cannot, he said, arrive at a dec'sion on tho Bubject until the different colonial Governments intorosted in tho schotno shall havo exprossed their opinion.
Sculling Contest.
A sculling match has taken place between Leo and Mattorson, which was won by tho former.
