City South Licensing Election
Last evening a meeting of the Temperance Committee for City South was held in the Free Methodist Schoolroom, Pitt-street. There was a good attendance, and the results of the late elections wore carefully discussed. The main business was to take into consideration the advisability of having the recent election in tno South Ward declared void, on the pleaot the irregularity (already mentioned) in the ballot papers. After the various Committeemen had expressed their opinion at some length, it was resolved to further po.tcone the matter, as no definite decision had been arrived at. it appears that Thursday must have been a season of miracles, for it is rumoured that several dead men's votes were recorded, and many livo voters are reported to have disappeared until after the poll was closed. At the meeting last night a committee was appointed to examiuo the new rolls to sco that the names of supporters of the temperance cause are duly recorded, in order to be fully prepared to ronow tho contoat at the noxt elections.
