STRANGE STEAMER ON THE EAST COAST.

Taukanga, this day. A large three-masted steamer was soon this morning from Maketu going north. The vessel was apparently a stranger.
[This may provo to bo the Hinemoa, oi route from Wellington to Auckland with torpedo boat in tow, or the Espiegle British man-of-war, which loft Sydney undor sealed crdors over a fortnight ago, and has not since been heard of. Tho Minister of Public Works was advised by telegram in the course of the afternoon that the Government stoamor Hinemoa was sighted off Mayor Island this morning steering north.
