7 ho annual meetingof tho above Companywas held on Friday. March G, Sir F. Whitaker boing in the chair. The following report from the directors was submitted,-—The oirectora present the annual accounts to tho shareholders, and regret to havo to say that tho year's transactions havo not beon successful. In some departments there has been a profit, but the falling-oft" of tho trading hustnosa nnd tho river traffic has ent.iled a considerable loss. In the year 1883 the amount, received on the trading account waß £8.01:1 7b: in the year 1881 the amount decreased to £3 536 Ha lid. In the year 1883 the steamers earned £5,378 9s lOd. and in the year 1.381 £3.863 ;2s lid, making a ditt'ereuco between the two years of no leas a sum than £5,991 7s on theso two accounts only. The directors recommend that the Company s business should be reduced to those branches on which a riroflt is being mude. and a resolution to thateffeot will be proposed for your adoption. Mossrs Williamson, Bradley and Green, the retiring diro-tors. were re-eiccted,and Mr Waymouth wu.. rc-appoint-d auditor. A resolution was then cassed reducing the Company'- business a_ indicated in the report.
