ALARMING STREET ACCIDENTS.

As a horee and trap, in chargo of two men, was passing along Shortland-street this morning, about 8 o'clock, the horse suddenly started when opposite the shop of Mr Nome, cabinet-raakor, and, swerving round, leaped through his plato-glass window, causing a fearful crash. The driver and his companion were thrown from their seats with considerable violence on to the pavement. One man was picked up in an unconscious state, and both were very much bruised. The horse was so much cut that a large pool of blood was found where he lay. Such was tho force of the blow against the plate-glass that some furniture at a distance of thirty feet had splinters of glass sticking into it. The man who seemed to have been injured most was taken into Mr Norrie's shop, and restoratives applied. A cab was next procured and ho was conveyed to his homo. A horse. attached to a cart, which had been standing opposito Mr Shortt's, hairdressing establishment, Queen-street, yesterday, bolted, though tho wheel was properly secured. The mad career of the frightened animal caused two other horses to start off, and there was the unusual occurrence of three "bolts "at the same time and place. Fortunately, no damage was done.

A lad engaged in one of tho establishments in Vuloftii Lano had a narrow escape from death to-day. A Chinese market gardener, when endoavouring to turn his narse and cart on tho narrow roadway, inadvertontly backed tho vehicle on to tho footpath, crushing the boy ngainstthe uall. The heavy vehicular traffic in this narrow thoroughfare rendors it very dangerous to Hfo and limb, and some of the residents are talking of petitioning the City Council to enact a byolaw regulating the traffic.
