THE KAMO COLLIERY.
A numbbr of shares in the Karat) Colliery Company (Limited) are now being offered to the public, 3d per announcement in another column; and the investment, we are convinced, is one well deserving attention. For some time back the rich mineral resources of the largo estate at Kamo have been steadily developed, until now the Company is in a position to supply a large and steady output of coal .uitable for .-teaming and other purposes. Formerly the coalfield ivas only worked by means of an adit level, but now a shaft has been sunk, cutting two seams of coal, one of which is nine feet thick. The quality of Kamo coal is well known, and the value of this new discovery will be understood when it is stated that the coal found in the shaft is -0 per cent, better in quality than that which has hitherto been worked. All the surroundings are favourable to this Company having a successful career, and yielding big dividends to the shareholders. The property is convenient to Whangarei Harbour, with which it is connected by a short line of rail, so that coal can be put on board a steamer there more cheaply than anywhere else in the colony. The steamer Waitaki, lately acquired by the Company, will also add to the profits by her regular running between Whangarei and Auckland. Share? are offered at Iss each, payable in three equal instalments within .«ix months. The directors who hold these shares on behalf of the Company have shown their faith in the undertaking by going to tho expense of proving the mines thoroughly before placing tho shares on the market.
