SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
The Beautiful Star,
A Wellington telegram states that tho steamer Beautiful Star, which went ashore at the North Spit, Westporl, on Thursday' morning, was safely got off yesterday. The Ketch Falcon. A report is current at the Bluff that the ketch Falcon has again gone ashore at the Kaiapoi liar. The Falcon is a kotch of 37 tons register, built at Hobart in 1865, and as far as we can learn, is owned by Mr P. G. Leslie, of Wellington. She was wrecked at \ Timaru in September, 1878, subsequently re-covcrcd and re-metalled in January, 1879. The P.s. Kennedy Ashore. HOKITIKA, Friday. Tho steamer Kennedy, when coming into tho river this morning, came into colli-ion with the end of the northern protection works, eighteen feet of which have been completely destroyed. Subsequently ! she grounded on the South Spit, where she lay till high tide, at 6.30 this evening, when *he was got off. She bas_ not suffered much damage. An enquiry will be held by the Collector of Customs to-morrow, when she leaves for northern ports at 4 p.m.
