Saunders, Esq., Insurance Buildings, Secretary (oro tern): John Moginut, Temporary Office: Stitchbury"s Buildings, 107, Queen street, Auckland. The Object of this Association is tho establlsment of a Co-oporative Store, suitable ti tho requirements of the times. The Promoters having watched the workin" of similar institutions in tho Old Country, believe that .the lima has now arrived for successfully floating a Company in New Zealand for the supply of Goods and Merchandise of all descriptions, Tho Company will also act as Agents or other-' wisa for the sale of Produce of all kinds-and thereby assist the ssttlers in disposing p£ their commodities, and also for all other residents in country places who live too far away to make frequent visits to town. The Company boing In a position to bay largaly, and for. cash, -will bo able to guarantee the -quality of the goods sent out, and at fair and reasonbia prices, ' lip Facilities will also te given to promote" the' ■ sale of Local Manufacturers whenever it can, a I done in the interests of tho Shareholders. It is believed that too often local industries suffer from the want of a proper channel to introduce their Goods, and not that the articles manufactured are inferior or dearer than those i mported. To meet these requirements, and to present to all classes of the community a safe and profitable investment for capital, ara the objects sought in the formation ot this Association. ThaoDeration of the Company will be conducted by thoroughly practical business men, every detail will ba carefully examined and. treated economically; profits after paying the dividends to the shareholders, will he divided among the Shareholders and.Ticket-holders; the accounts will be audited quarterly by a publio accountant, to bB ohosen by the Shareholders and Directors. .'-. Shareholders will be entitled to all tho advantages afforded at tho stores, to a share in the profits a3 hereinafter specified, and will have tho power of nominating Ticket-holders— not exceeding four — each Ticket-holder to pay two shillings and sixpence annually, or ten shillings for five years, and Life Members a payment of twenty shilling. , for the privilege of dealing at the depots of tho Association and of sharing in the profits. The Directors reserve the power to limit tho number of Ticketholders from time to time, Every Shareholder and Ticket-holder, to save the trouble and expense of sending money occasionally through tho post, will bo able to opon a deposit orderaccouotatthe stores, andpurchases mado from time to timo will bo debited thereto. The balance at credit can he withdrawn in cash at any time. Those accounts will not boar interest. Money will also be received on deposit In sums ot not le.a than £1. on which interest will be allowed at tho rate of 0 per cent, sper annum on Bnms that have remained on deposit one calendar month. From tho net profits 10 per cent, interest will ba paid as a first charge on the paid-up share capital, and the balance will bo divided as follows :— One-fourth to the formation of a resurve f and. One-half as a dividend to the Shareholders. A bonus, equal to the remaining one-fourth, will be paid "prorata." to tha Ticketholders who Bhall have purchased, during tho year, gr ods to tho extent of £25, and upwards, fiom tho Association. When the reserve fund shall have reached the sum of £10,000, a'l further addition thereto will cease, and the said one-fourth of tha balance of the nott profits will be apollod to increasing the dividend to the Shareholders, and the. bonus to tho Ticket-holders. Companies with similar objects in view in England have, under good management, attained the mo3t complete succe;s. According to published reports, a Supply Association, whose business was commenced in the early part of 1872, mado returns the first year of £130,000, second year £280,000, and Rhird year £130,000, and it is a well-established fxt that such Societies in tho Old Country, when managed properly, aro classed among the most ÜBeful as well as tho most profitable undertakings ot the present time. Estimated Return for First Year. £ abA _ £bA Say 1000 customers, each laying out, per week, on an average, 20s . oa;o would buy much more and some less than that amount) ~ 1000 0 0 Say profit on £1000 at 10 per cent 100 0 0 Deduct weekly expenses (but amuchlargar business might be done without increasing this stiff), say 10 0 0 Showing probable net profit per week _ £00 0 0 But it may reasonably be expected tht a much larger weekly return would soon be the result when onco the Company got into foil working order. As will be seen by taking tho figures of the last census ia 1878, thero were then 16,318 inhabited houses in tho Provincial District of Auckland; if, therefore, the Company obtained, say, only a fourth part ol these, reckoninz one family to one house, ihat would produce 1079 customers, which number, calcu'ated in the Baiuo proportion as abovo, would produce a gro3B profit of £107 weekly, instead of £100. And even if these results aro not obtained at first, yet tho estimate shows a wide field for the operations of tha Company boljg worked with profit at its commencement, and with every reasonable prospect of mi)3t satisfactory results when in fall operation. Moreover, tho above calculation does not take into account the population in vessels on tha night of the census being taken in the Provincial District of Auckland, which was then 30C7, neither does it take into account the native population, nor the population in other Provinces in Now Zealand, amounting, in addition, to tho :number of 331,751, and from whom the Company may fairly expect occasional orders. The whole European population was in 18;8, '.111,112—1683 tho number in Auckland district, 82, CC1 —331, ; 751.* With snch prospects it will readily be seen from tho above data that the Shareholders in such a Company must realißC large profits, and, in addition, be able to get their supplies at the lowest possible rates, in fact every Shareholder will bo his own Importer, and benefit accordingly. Application of Shares, or for further information, can bo mado to the broker, Mr A. Saunders, Insuranco Buildings, or to tho Secretary, at the temporary offlcß of the .Association, Stichbury's Buildings, Queon-street, Auckland. The Share List will closo for allotment at an early dato. *Note.—Tho Increase in the population, as shewn by tho recent censm, in tho Provincial District of Auckland is 12,330.
